Patrick BeugeThe study focuses on linguistically unsophisticated speakers – linguistic laypersons – and their understanding of good language. The perspectives taken in the study are native to the sociology of knowledge as well as cognitive and social linguistics. By means of qualitative content analysis, the linguistic understanding held by laypersons is reconstructed and modeled in accordance with the novel concept of “language-norm understanding.”
